Blackbird Health Expands Northern Virginia Mental Health Care With New Sterling Clinic

PR Newswire

STERLING, Va., Nov. 4, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Blackbird Health today announced the opening of its newest clinic in Sterling, expanding access to comprehensive pediatric mental health care throughout Loudoun County and surrounding Northern Virginia communities.

Blackbird Health’s four Northern Virginia locations—Tysons, Centreville, Burke, and Sterling—connect children, teens, young adults, and parents with comprehensive mental health care through virtual and in-person services.

The expansion brings Blackbird's coordinated, whole-child approach closer to more families seeking support for ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, and other mental health concerns. Families can begin with a comprehensive evaluation and receive a personalized care plan that connects them with appropriate services and clinical expertise.

"When families are concerned about their child, finding care can feel like another challenge to overcome," said Blackbird CEO and Northern Virginia resident Tom Peterson. "Our expansion into Sterling gives Loudoun County families another place to turn for answers, a clear path forward, and a team of experts that works together to support their child."

Comprehensive care, connected around each child

Blackbird Health considers a child's emotional well-being, behavior, development, school experiences, physical health, and family dynamics to better understand their needs. Psychiatric providers, therapists, and other clinicians collaborate on treatment plans, helping families navigate care without having to piece together disconnected services on their own.

Through Blackbird's care network, families can access:

  • Comprehensive mental health evaluations for autism, ADHD, speech, and OT to understand concerns and guide next steps.
  • Individual and family therapy tailored to each child's needs and treatment goals.
  • Medication management with ongoing monitoring and coordination.
  • Psychiatric testing to assess complex mood, behavioral, and developmental concerns.
  • Executive function coaching to build skills such as organization, planning, and task management.
  • Parent therapy and coaching to support caregivers and strengthen strategies at home.

A regional approach to timely, personalized care

Blackbird's hybrid model combines virtual and in-person appointments, matching children with appropriate clinical expertise across its regional team. The care setting is guided by each child's needs and may evolve over time. Virtual new patient evaluations allow families to begin the process from home.

"Loudoun County is a large, growing, and diverse community, and families need pediatric mental health care that can respond to a wide range of clinical and practical needs," said Michael Tang, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Blackbird Health. "By providing virtual and in-person behavioral health care across Northern Virginia, we can better understand each child's full picture and connect families with the right support sooner."

The Sterling clinic also creates opportunities to strengthen collaboration with pediatricians, schools, therapists, and community organizations throughout Loudoun County. These connections support referrals, communication, and continuity of care for families across Northern Virginia. Located at 46396 Benedict Drive, Sterling, the clinic joins Blackbird's existing locations in Tysons, Burke, and Centreville.
